Welcome to Basudara Maluku Global
It is our hope that we can all collaborate to build a better Maluku.
Our vision is for the people at the grassroots to be prosperous and the next generations to be educated and to be able to enjoy the produce of their beautiful sea and fertile land. We see all Moluccans around the world, embracing the spirit of one brotherhood.
“Ale rasa, beta rasa”
This will not happen without intentional, persistent action. Maluku is the third or fourth poorest province in Indonesia, with the second largest percentage of people below the poverty line. It has the second lowest education standard.
Maluku has some of the most beautiful, fertile land in the world and its marine biodiversity is second to none. However, unsustainable mining and irresponsible waste management is threatening the environment. It also threatens the food source for Maluku. This needs urgent attention
Equally, there is a rich culture and oral history of Maluku that needs to be preserved. The traditional languages are fading and many handicraft skills are no longer being taught. Many of the traditional herbal medicine practices have also been lost.
We need people with a heart to help Maluku to share their skills. You do not need to travel to Maluku to assist. We need people with ideas for projects- big and small that we can co-design with local leaders and empower local leadership to run.
“Give a man a fish, and you’ll feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish, and you’ve fed him for a lifetime.”
At BMG, we want to go a step further to teach him how his fishing fits into the end to end supply chain (where will he sell his fish and the cold-storage logistics required) and help him overcome obstacles in creating an enterprise.
There will be fun a long the way, with lots of singing and laughter. Join us.
